One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is to help provide food for orphan children in Africa. Because of exchange rates changing lately, we ran short of money in Africa for some of this. So the people in Africa cut back on the least important things that we spent money on …desserts. I know it really stinks. Doesn’t it?

Although making sure there is enough nutrition for each of the kids is the main thing we want to do, we don’t need to worry about most of these kids having too many sweets. Getting this was a special thing that a lot of kids missed. We were able to up our giving by the small amount needed to buy cookies or suckers for everyone though. The picture of the kids shown here was taken when they found out there would be desserts again.

Thanks for all of your business which helps make all of this possible.

Tea Tree Oil – 4 oz.

If you have acne-prone skin, chances are you’ve tried a host of skin care products with harsh chemicals to try to get rid of it. However, one of the most effective ways to treat acne is found in nature. Here are some simple tricks for using tea tree oil to cure your acne:

The reason why Tea tree oil for skin works very effectively on acne is that it cuts through dust and grease easily as it works like a solvent.
When you apply it on affected skin, it will cut through the dirt and will unclog the pores by removing all the dust and dirt, while the anti-bacterial property will kill the bacteria and prevent further out-breaks and the antiseptic property will heal the skin.

So now that you know why tea tree oil is one of the best ways to cure acne, here are a few methods to use it:

Tea tree has healing properties but it also has toxins that are harmful when taken internally. You should only use it externally.
Another thing to keep in mind while using this essential oil is that it should always be diluted with water before use as it is very strong, otherwise it can cause allergic reactions or not be effective to cure acne.

Solution # 1:
Things you need:
½ cup of water
3-4 drops of tea tree essential oil.

How to use:
Add 3-4 drops of the oil in water and mix well.
Take a cotton pad and apply in to the problematic area or whole face, whatever suits you.
Leave this for 20-25 minutes and once it dries, apply your moisturizer. You don’t need to wash this off.

Tips:
Apply to freshly cleaned face, pat your skin dry very gently.
If you feel a little stinging sensation, it’s normal.
Also, you can alter the drops of oil you use depending on your skin type.
If you have sensitive skin, keep the ratio 95% water and 5% oil.
If you have normal skin use 90% water and 10% oil.
This can be done twice a day, to see effective results quickly.

Solution #2:
This is one of the most common ways to use this oil.
Things you need:
Fresh aloe-vera gel
2-3 drops of tea tree oil
How to use:
Take one or one and a half spoon fulls of aloe vera gel and mix the drops of oil in it.
Mix it well, and apply in onto the spots or whole face.
Wait for it to dry and get soaked in, after that wash it off with lukewarm water.
Apply a good moisturizer afterwards.

Tips:
This mask can also be left overnight.
This mask is great if you have sensitive skin. Aloe vera will gently soothe and calm your skin while the tea tree oil is at work.

Solution #3:
Things you will need:
Green clay powder
Few drops of tea tree oil
Water

How to use:
Take one to two spoons of green clay powder.
Add 2-4 drops of the essential oil.
Add enough water to make a paste and apply evenly on face, focusing more on the acne prone area.
Once it dries wash off with lukewarm water and follow up with you moisturizer.

Tips:
If you want to do spot treatment you can decrease the quantity of powder and also the oil, of course.
A little tingly sensation is fine, since it’s very strong oil.
Green Clay will soak up all the impurities from your pores and clean them.

Tea tree oil, although effective, takes time to show results depending on your skin type and structure. So don’t be disheartened if you don’t see results in first few weeks, it may take time, but it will definitely work and it can also work to prevent future breakouts if used regularly.

1. Learn Everything About Your Product
When it comes to natural skincare, there are usually so many benefits related to the ingredients inside the product that to name them all would take a very long time. However, knowing all those benefits will significantly increase your success. If you speak to someone who has eczema, acne, or has a grandson who has dermatitis you’ll be able to say ‘oh, black soap works really well at healing that!’ or whichever product suits that persons concern. Get to know your products, get to know their ingredients and benefits, and give your customers the solutions they need.

2. Listen to Your Customer
Skin care isn’t about just selling a product. It’s about selling beauty, youth, health, hope. For some it’s the answer to a lifelong struggle they’ve had with a skin condition. Selling skin care products needs to be a personal experience, you need to listen to what your customer wants and needs, empathize with their concerns, and then give them the answers they’re looking for.

3. Put the Product In Your Customers Hand
It’s one thing to hear about a product, it’s quite another to be able to experience it firsthand! Giving a free sample is one of the best ways to make a sale and get that customer loyalty that is so important. Keep sample bottles or pieces of soap bars on hand for customers. When you’re talking to them let them try the product you’re telling them about. When a customer has been able to experience how your product feels they will have a much harder time walking away from it.

4. Follow-Up for Repeat sales
If you have a customer who bought a product, why not contact them a couple of weeks later to see how they liked it? Ask how they’re enjoying their product and see if they have any questions you can answer. If they’ve had a positive experience, ask if you can use it as a testimonial for your store or product. Later, when you get new products you can let them know if you have something that fits their needs. Customers will appreciate this personal touch and won’t easily forget your company.

It is a plant oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania spinosa L.), found in Morocco, that is valued for its nutritive, cosmetic and numerous medicinal properties.

It is very high in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids. These make it good for scar tissue in the skin and for bringing a shine to otherwise lackluster skin. Argan oil has traditionally been used to treat skin conditions and to nourish dry hair.

Not only that, but it has some socio-economic impacts for Morocco. Women working in fair trade co-operatives harvest and produce argan oil which helps them and their families economically and socially. The popularity of argan oil has improved working conditions for these women workers. Women use their income to provide themselves and their families with an education and are gaining much respect and independence.

Also because of it, the argan tree is treated as a valuable natural resource and Morocco is preserving and protecting forests of these trees better. These trees provide food, shelter, and protection from the encroaching desert. More argan trees are being planted and nurseries has been set up for young trees. In fact, Unesco has designated the 10,000-square-mile argan-growing region as a biosphere reserve.

We at Africa Imports sell argan oil in two sizes.
We recently added these rattles to our musical instruments selection, and we’re finding out more about the unique history these rattles have in African culture! There are many stories about the sistrum, one famous one being that they were used in religious ceremonies and rituals, and were particularly associated with the worship of Egyptian goddess Isis. The sistrum was considered a sacred instrument in ancient Egypt and throughout other parts of Africa. Its sound was thought to echo that of a stem of papyrus being shaken. This soothing, rattling sound gives a mellow tribal tone to any musical celebration. Now the sistrum is used throughout Africa in various religious ceremonies and celebrations.
